During the year 2004-05,India was looking for a Wicket keeping batsman after Rahul Dravid decided not to keep wickets rather to concentrate on batting...In comes a swashbuckling batting - keeper from Ranchi,a village, named M.S.Dhoni with long hair...Though his first few matches were not up to the mark, the team management didn't lose faith in him...Sent in at No.3 against the Pakistani attack,he made a blitzkrieg 144 and was going strong from there...
He was a very ordinary keeper and a batsman with unusual skills....Soon,this guy gained popularity..Whatever he does becomes popular, even if he goes for a haircut...He was celebrated all round India because of his huge and unusual sixes...No one had any clue as to how hit sixes...
Indians went to World Cup,2007 with lots of hope but the dreams were shattered with first round exit...As we all know the people of India, they would have everyone in their head and with a failure they would be thrown out...The same thing happened to Dhoni,he was celebrated by every individual and after a failure in the Caribbean his house was wrecked and his effigies were burnt...
The Indians were not able to get sponsors for their forthcoming tours after the debacle at World Cup...However,they got one and flown to England..Won Test Series for the first time and gained a little confidence of the Indian Public...The next assignment for the Indians was T20 world cup, which is to be held for the first time, was the turning point of Cricket..All the senior players walked out of the squad for WC and it was a bunch of youngsters who came into the squad....And,Surprise,Dhoni was made the captain pipping Yuvraj, who was a senior to Dhoni....
India won the world cup because of stupendous performance by the youngsters led by Yuvraj...No one gave a chance for these youngsters to win the title but after the conclusion of T20 WC,they won the hearts of millions...Another important reason for the win should be attributed to Dhoni...He was really instrumental for the triumph because of his cool attitude and he maneuvered the youngsters well...
During the course of the T20 WC,Dravid announced that he would not be the captain anymore...And to concentrate on batting...The BCCI had no option other than to make Dhoni as the captain as the senior players were not interested to take the offer....
The first assignment for Dhoni,as the ODI captain, was against the Australians at home in which he faired well...Everyone began to admire his captaincy...It was when Indians toured Down under that he dropped Ganguly and Dravid, which raised a lot of criticisms....But,Dhoni was not done in by it...In fact, Indians won the ODI series in Australia for the first time and Dhoni was instrumental to it because of his field placements and also because of better fielders in the squad...And,the Aussies were done in by the fire like youngsters and The Master Sachin...His Moves were Vindicated...
Everyone thought that it was because of his luck he is winning the matches as captain...But,IPL was the one which made the critics realise that it was not because of luck that he is winning but because of his talent...He took his team[Chennai Super Kings]to the final, which had no great players after Hayden and Hussey flown back to Australia for their national duties...And, it was almost a toothless attack but he made it to the final and almost won it...This shows the attitude of this man...He was as cool as a cucumber in pressure situations...He was also considered as a big asset with the big gloves as the days passed by and is not the same Dhoni with the bat that we know...He began to consolidate and score most of his runs in singles rather than depending on Sixes..
He was also made the captain of Indian Test team after the retirement of Kumble...And is doing a great job..And till now,he hasn't lost a match{22/12/08}as Skipper...He won all the four encounters that he faced...So far he has been doing an excellent job for India.. Hope that he takes the team to greater heights...Dhoni has also found a lot of youngsters who could do well in International arena like Rohit Sharma,Ishant Sharma,Amit Mishra,Badrinath etc..
Got a news that the people of Ranchi are planning to build a temple for Dhoni...Stupidity at its best...The people themselves would damage them,if the Indians doesn't do well..So far,he has been a man with a midas touch..Whatever he touches or do turns into gold..We'll see how long he could sustain with it... These are good times for India but once the bad patch comes it would be interesting to see how Dhoni handles it..

Evolution of the Game "CRICKET"
The Game Of Cricket has seen many changes ever since it was introduced by the Englishmen..During the former part of its introduction,it was not appreciated by many because of the reason that it takes several days to complete a single match...For instance, during those days, there were only test matches which would extend not less than ten days and it created boredom among the spectators as a Football match would be over in an hour and a half and not more than Two hours... George Bernard Shaw,An Irish Playwright, describe the Game as follows:"ELEVEN FOOLS PLAYING AND ELEVEN THOUSAND FOOLS WATCHING"....
Then,The rules of game changed as to which the game should be finished within 5 days and not beyond that... This is where the game was acknowledged by many..This is the time where the game saw one of the best batsman in Sir Donald Bradman..He was very aggressive and attracted many spectators...This form of Cricket was played all through up to the year 1970-71...Indians were just a novice at that point of time..After which a new form of cricket was formed in which each side would bat for up to 60 overs,so the match would be finished in a day...
The Council introduced a format called World Cup ,in which all the cricket playing nations would participate...And,the world cup which changed the face of cricket was 1975 Prudential Cup held in England...At this point of time,Sunil Gavaskar,Vinoo Mankad,Bedi were making their debut for India and faired well...The next World Cup was held again in Britain, four years later....Both the World Cup were won by West Indies...
The One day format was reduced by 10 overs as many thought that it was too long...
The Third World Cup was in 1983 and is a year to be celebrated by every Indian,as we won the cup...It was the year in which the people of India recognised a game named Cricket...
This form of Cricket was going strong and many around the world began to appreciate..So far, the ICC has conducted 9 world cups and the next world cup is due in 2011...
The game of cricket was at its peak in India after the introduction a boy named Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar in 1989... He began to take the burden on his shoulders after the retirement of greats like Gavaskar,Kapil,Amarnath... During the 1990's,it was only Sachin for India and he soon in his career became the Word beater...There are many in this country who started to watch cricket because of him, including me... He began his career as a small man but will finish as a Great man...The Cricket Game is no more a game in India,It's a Religion...And,it would be unfair not to say that it is because of India that ICC runs the game..Otherwise,they would have gone bankrupt....
This form of cricket was even reduced to 20 overs a side to attract more of Public Response and to attract the IOC,so that the game would be included in Olympics..It was in England that this game(T20) was first played to attract more of visitors,as they were fading....T20 was recognised by ICC in no time and even the first world cup for T20 was held in 2007 and the game brought in tremendous support, which led to the introduction of IPL...
The main drawback of this game is that it would not bring about the skills of the players..Even a tailender with strong shoulders can make you run for money as the boundary lines are short ...I strongly disagree to the feeling that T20 should be given preference for ODI's nor the Tests...
Hope that ICC doesn't introduce anything named T10 or T15,which could further ruin the game...

Best Batsman,Kaun Hai?????
The world of Cricket has seen many legends and great batsmen, who have warmth the hearts of millions.. Some of the greats the Cricketing world has seen are Don Bradman,Brian Lara,Vivian Richards,Sunil Gavaskar,Ricky Ponting , Sachin Tendulkar and still lot more...Out of these players let me analyse who is the best of the lot...
Don Bradman:
No doubt,he is one of the best batsman of his generation.. He averages around 99.9 in Tests which seems to be an improbable record to be broken by anyone..But, the question is whether he would have created this kind of record, if he is a player of this era??? In fact, he has played lot of cricket in his home soil and also against the same opponent[ENGLAND]... He would have known the attack of his opponent very well, since he played only against the same... And,not to take credit away from him,he was really aggressive in nature and tormented the bowling attack...A talent of his kind are very rare...
Sunil Gavaskar:
One of the the best batsman for India in Test Matches...The main advantage of his batting is his Concentration,Patience,Attitude...He would stay in the crease for hours and face the Best bowling attack of West Indies and also of the world Without wearing Helmet or any other safety measure on his head...Unlike Bradman, Gavaskar has faced different bowling attacks in different ant tough conditions... He was the highest century scorer in tests when he left the arena...The main drawback of his batting is his lack of aggression... I have read in an article that he scored 36 runs without being out and played the whole quota of 60 overs and was also not in a mood to accelerate his scoring rate.. And this was considered as his main pitfall...
Vivian Richards:
The other batsman who comes to the mind when talking about the greats is The Great West Indian Batsman Sir Vivian Richards... He was never afraid of facing any kind of bowling attack in his entire career and he had No Mercy for the bowlers... He was very aggressive and it was because of him in the batting department of West indies got stronger...He almost played in the same era of Gavaskar and these two were completely different in their approach towards batting... He was considered the best of the above two mentioned..
Brian Lara:
Brian Lara, also, hails from the same country that of the Great man mentioned above... And was considered as the best batsman after Richards for Windies in the latter part of his career...This guy also possesses the skills of Richards, that of attacking, but minus CONSISTENCY.... Yet,he was Robust and Powerful... He was the highest scorer and also has individual score fora batsman in tests , when he bid good- bye to Cricket.... He was very aggressive right from the start and was uncontrollable when he goes all guns blazing...During the end of his career,he was more vulnerable...And,Brian Lara was considered as the bunny of McGrath as he took his wicket more than anyone...Consistency factor is one of the drawbacks of this guy... He also holds the record of highest individual score in domestic Cricket scoring 501* against a county side in England...
Ricky Ponting:
Ricky Ponting, the ruthless Australian, was just an ordinary player in the former part of his career..But, a great fielder... He would be in and out of the team but he soon cemented his place in the Australian side....And after the exit of Steve Waugh,Ricky Ponting became the captain of Australia...From then, his fortunes have changed... He began to score tons after tons and was seemed to be unstoppable....If u have a deep look into the career of Ponting, more interesting points surface... Ponting scored most of his runs and tons against the toothless English bowling of 2003-2006..And also score more than 50%of his runs in Australia...Ricky,also didn't score much when the Bowling Greats like Wasim Akram,Waqar Younis,Curtly Ambrose,Courtney Walsh,Allan Donald were around the corner.... He was always a flop when facing quality spin Bowling and is a bunny of Indian spin wizard Harbhajan Singh...He has picked him 9 times in his career, most by any bowler...India is considered as the ominous place for Ponting,as he hasn't scored much and his first hundred came only in his fourth visit to India in Test Matches...But,really an aggressor..
Sachin Tendulkar:
When taking about the Legends,it would be a crime not to talk about Sachin Tendulkar...The very name that creates fear in the hearts of bowlers... He faced the quality bowling attack of Pakistan on his debut, when he was 16..He scored a naught on his debut and from then he hasn't turned back...His first hundred in tests came against England in England and he revealed the truth that the hundred against Australia in Perth, when all the batsmen were struggling and he was 17 then, was the turning part of his career...And after the retirement of Kapil Dev,Srikkanth,he was the lone survivor for India..Soon India became One Man Army depending on this young man to fire in all the matches...He carried the burden of millions and trillions of spectators right from the word go..Be it in tests nor in ODI's,he plays his natural game and don't succumb to pressure often....And,importantly he succeeded many times...He was also considered as the GOD of Cricket... This guy was considered as the yesteryear Vivian Richards... He was very attacking and also be patient, whenever the situation demands and this has been the hall mark of his career...He succeeded in almost all tests that he faced.. When he gets set,he would make the bowlers run for their money...He has scored almost in all countries and in all different conditions and different attacks...Sachin is a Package of The First Three mentioned above... The most suffered and suffering team in the hands of Sachin is the Mighty Australians, who were the best in the business during Sachin's era...most important feature of Sachin's career is that he was very Consistent....During the era of 1990's,it was only Sachin who came to the rescue of India, and these times were the peak of his career... It is good to hear from Ricky Ponting, the Australian Skipper, that they come with different plans to Tendulkar but every time he finds some other way to tackle it,which is considered masterful...The only disappointing feature of Sachin's batting is that he has not scored much runs nor centuries in the second innings of a Test Match,Yet Powerful...He is unstoppable by any force..He is presently the highest scorer, has most number of centuries and fifties in both forms of the game... It would take me another blog to list all of his records...And it would take a big effort from anyone to break this record...
By reading the above paragraphs,There are two greats who stand apart from others... One is the West Indian Vivian Richards and the other one is Sachin Tendulkar of India..It is difficult to compare these two as they have similar attributes... But,considering the expectation factor and percentage of succeeding the expectation, I would consider Sachin to top the list... Hence, there is only one man who was/is/will be the greatest of all the legends in years to come...Proud to be born in the same country of this man...
Don Bradman:

26/11:India's version of 9/11 Attack
26/11/2008,The day to be remembered by each and every citizen of India....one of the worst Terror Attacks i have seen in India, which rattled the hearts of millions... The attack took place in Mumbai around 10 P.M in the night and that too in a centralised spots in the Nations Financial Capital... The terrorists nearly wrecked the Taj hotel... The other two most affected spots were Nariman House and Oberoi Trident..The main attack was against the Foreigners in the Hotels...
Nearly 20 terrorists entered the city without any problem with their weapons armed.. Worst possible security???? The terrorists were having a happy time gunning down innocent people and were going around the city with the help of Police Jeep... The terrorists came into the city in batches and were left for hotels also in batches and almost shot down the guests, who were loitering around the corners of the Taj... And seemed to have no regret in shooting the kids... The interior decorations of The Taj were almost destroyed and it would take a massive effort from the owner to bring it back into normal...
There was, infact,a war between 1000s of NSG Commandos and the Twenty odd Terrorists... And the tug of war between them lasted for about 60 Hours...Have u sound it??? SIXTY hours to get hold of a handful of Terrorists...If 20 can dominate the city for hours, can 100's take hold of the country???
I was of the opinion that after serial blasts in New Delhi, the security measure swould get stronger and Our country would be less vulnerable for Terror Attacks... It was really bizarre on part of the ruling Government on not taking adequate measures....And yes,not to mention about the commandos ,who lost their lives in the ecounter, would be a serious Crime..They did a fantastic job by saving many and losing their lives...
It is learnt from the terrorist, who was caught hold by the cops, that they planned a replicate of J.W.Marriot in Pakistan which was completely demolished by the terror group... and also planned to kill atleast 5000 people..The terrorist identifies himself as a Pakistani, which doesnt come as a surprise to many....He also discloses the fact that they headed to Mumbai by boat, which was hijacked in Karachi... And now it is time for the Pakistan to come out of the shell of terrorism..Otherwise, the country will go nowhere...
I hope that the Ruling party learns from its mistake, gets its security Robust and save us from the bloody terrorists... And also hope that nothing happens of this kind again....

Sachin Tendulkar,The Cricket God
I have started my blog with Sachin as my topic because he was the one whom I admired from my young age... It was because of him that i started to watch Cricket...and also for the reason that he is my role model... There are many legends and greats who can be followed as a Role model but i chose this guy as my role model because of various reasons:
--->I haven't seen ego in him after playing almost 20 years of Cricket...for example, if u have seen the Fifth ODI against the Englishmen,he continuously rotated the strike to his fellowman(Sehwag), as he was in a Purple Patch...
--->His hunger for runs...And willing to learn more...
--->He was never a bad boy in his Real life too..I haven't seen him quarreling with his team mates or his rival mates...and if his Opponent Parties sledge him,he would greet them with smile and finally speaks with the Bat...Sachin has always said that,"Aggression is something from within which should not be seen, but should be felt by the opponents"
--->There are many critics who constantly criticize him but he never speaks with his mouth but only with his MRF Bat..And he lives up to the old adage which goes like this,"ACTION SPEAKS BETTER THAN WORDS"
--->He never was a froward or headstrong unlike his team mates, who rate themselves as bigger than the game...eg.Yuvraj, Ganguly..
--->He never conceit himself as the best batsman...
--->He also does Social services but never makes it a publicity...
--->The sacrifice which he made for the Indian Cricket is something phenomenal and I have learnt from him that Sacrifices make u more stronger than u are...
--->The important thing why i admire is that he still loves to play the game since many get bored doing the same job time and again...
--->Many say that he plays for his records, but if he plays for his record he wouldn't have reached this much...A complete Team Man...
--->Another example of Sachin's humility could be seen when he shook hands with the ground staff and even hugged them after the Chennai Test Match against the English...A man of his stature could have easily eluded away from them, but he didn't...This is what marks a great man..
This man is just 5'4 inches but stands tall in stature...
I hope that Sachin plays 2011 World Cup and Win for us...
And, i like to conclude finally with the Golden Words of Sachin.
"CRITICS THROW STONES AT U,IT IS FOR U TO CONVERT THEM INTO MILESTONES".
